Liverpool target, Lookman eyeing 27th Serie A goal to close in on Martins’ goals haul

Ademola Lookman will be looking to score his 27th goal in 66 Serie A games when he files out with Atalanta Saturday evening for their week seven games at the Gewiss Stadium where they will host Genoa.

The Nigerian will also be looking to score his 36th goal in 85 games across all competitions for the club he joined two years ago.

If he scores once, he will be just a goal away from equaling the 28 Obafemi Martins scored to become the highest scoring Nigerian in the serie A at the time and now third behind Victor Osimhen who etted 65 in 108 games and Simy Nwankwo who scored 34 times in 116 matches.

Martins scored his 28 goals in 88 appearances and Lookman, if he nets a brace on Saturday will equal that mark in only 66 games.

Lookman has scored in his only appearance against Genoa and he will be seeking to make the club the eighth team he will score at least twice against in the Serie A.

Meanheile, Liverpool are reportedly ready to table €100 million to beat Manchester City, Newcastle and Tottenham to Ederson and Lookman’s signature.

According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool are looking to raid Atalanta for the services of Lookman and Ederson.

The Reds have their eyes on the 26 year old Nigerian who has been in exceptional form of late.

Lookman has made an exceptional start to the new season and the Reds believe his ability to feature anywhere in the attack could significantly bolster their attack.

He contributed towards two goals in their win over Shakhtar and it seems to have left a mark on the Liverpool scouts.
