NWFL Nationwide Returns for 2025 Season with Registration and Competition Dates Confirmed

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has officially announced the reinstatement of the NWFL Nationwide League for the 2025 calendar season, marking a significant milestone in the development of women’s football across the country.
This will be the first edition of the Nationwide League since 2023, following its suspension in 2024 and temporary replacement by the now defunct States League.
The decision to restore the third-tier competition was made with the full endorsement of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), under the leadership of President Ibrahim Gusau.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, emphasized the importance of the league’s return, describing it as a strategic move to strengthen the women’s football pyramid and provide a vital platform for grassroots talent.
‘The reinstatement of the NWFL Nationwide is a significant step towards strengthening the women’s football pyramid in Nigeria. As the third tier, it plays a vital role in discovering and nurturing talent, giving more grassroots clubs and players the opportunity to compete, grow, and aspire to higher levels of the game,’ Shabi stated.
The NWFL has outlined the registration timeline and competition schedule for the 2025 season. Registration will officially open on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, and close on Friday, September 26, 2025.
All entries must be submitted via email to [email protected], and late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.
The competition itself is scheduled to run from October 3 to October 12, 2025, with the host venue to be announced in due course.
The NWFL urges all interested clubs nationwide to complete their registration within the stipulated timeframe.
