Golden Boot Battle Heats Up: Shomurodov 21, Onuachu 22
Basaksehir Star Closes in on Trabzonspor forward in Super Lig Scoring Race

Eldor Shomurodov has closed in on Paul Onuachu in the race for the 2025/26 Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot, after scoring in Istanbul Basaksehir’s 3-0 victory over Samsunspor at the Fatih Terim Stadium on Saturday.
Shomurodov’s strike was his fifth in five consecutive matches, taking his season tally to 21 goals, just one behind Onuachu.
The Trabzonspor forward has endured a barren run, failing to score in his last five outings after netting in nine of his previous ten. He also missed the trip to Alanyaspor due to a muscle injury.
With only one round of fixtures remaining, the battle for the top scorer crown is finely poised.
Onuachu will be hoping to rediscover his scoring touch when Trabzonspor host Gençlerbirliği on May 17, while Shomurodov has the chance to overtake him if he finds the net away at Gaziantep FK on the same day.
