Nigeria Basketball Federation Unveils 2026 U18 Afrobasket Preparation Schedule

Sets Training Camps in Chicago and Côte d'Ivoire Ahead of Afrobasket Finals

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBF) has announced its official preparation schedule for the upcoming FIBA U18 Afrobasket Finals, underscoring its commitment to nurturing young talent and strengthening Nigeria’s presence on the continental stage.

From July 24 to 26, 2026, the federation will host a U.S.-based training camp and talent evaluation program in Chicago, USA. This initiative is designed to identify and refine emerging Nigerian prospects, ensuring they are ready to compete at the highest level.

Following the U.S. camp, the team will convene in Côte d’Ivoire for a final joint preparation camp from July 27 to August 2, 2026. This intensive program will serve as the last phase of readiness before the continental showdown.

The highlight of the summer will be the FIBA U18 Afrobasket Finals, scheduled for August 3-16, 2026 in Côte d’Ivoire, where Nigeria’s youth team will compete against Africa’s best for continental supremacy.

In announcing the schedule, the NBF reaffirmed its dedication to building a sustainable future for basketball in Nigeria through grassroots development, elite competition pathways, and strategic engagement with Nigerian talent worldwide.
