Adeleke seeks Diamond League final spot in Silesia
Ireland’s 400m star, Rhasidat Adeleke will looking to seal her spot in her first Diamond League final when she returns to Diamond League action in Silesia, Poland on August 25.
Adeleke came fourth in the 400m event at the Paris 2024 Olympics and the Irish 100m, 200m and 400m record holder felt she should have been at the podium.
The 21-year-old can still end the year with a place at a global podium as Diamond League champion in the 400m.
For her to achieve this, she will have to secure a place in the final scheduled to take place in Brussels next month and the Irish has the final chance to make that happen next week in Silesia when she competes in the final women’s 400m event of the Diamond League series before the final.
Born to Nigerian parents, Adeleke is currently eighth in the 400m standings and will need to either retain that position or move at least a step up to be among the final eight that will be in the starting line up in Brussels.
Adeleke won her only Diamond League race of the year in Monaco before the Olympics and will fancy her chances of getting one over Paris Olympics 400m gold medalist Marileidy Paulino who will be out to claim her fifth Diamond League win of the season as well as home girl, Natalia Kaczmarek who came third in paris.
