AFCON 2025: Osimhen Confident Nigeria Can Silence Atlas Lions Crowd

Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has played down suggestions of pressure in the Super Eagles’ camp as they prepare to face hosts Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final on Wednesday night.

Speaking in an interview with CBS Sports Golazo, Osimhen acknowledged the strength of the Atlas Lions but insisted Nigeria remain one of the most feared teams in the competition.

‘They have a very good team, with talented players. I think we are one of the most feared teams in this tournament, given the talent we have. There is no pressure in the camp. We take each match as it comes,’ he said.

The Galatasaray forward also dismissed concerns about the intimidating atmosphere expected at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, where a passionate home crowd will back Morocco.

‘Of course, it won’t be easy. The Moroccans play in front of thousands of fans, which is an advantage for them. But most of us are used to playing in stadiums of 80,000 or 90,000 people. For me, personally, there is absolutely no pressure,’ Osimhen said.

Osimhen will be seeking to score his fifth goa of the competition which will draw him level with Rashidi Yekini (1994) and Odion Ighalo (2019) as Nigeria’s top scorer in a singe AFCON tournament.
