Akor Adams and Ejuke Available for Selection Against Elche Tonight, Says Sevilla Boss

Sevilla manager Matías Almeyda has confirmed that Nigerian duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke will be available for selection in Monday night’s clash against Elche at the Martínez Valero.

The pair, fresh from their Africa Cup of Nations campaign where Nigeria secured third place after defeating Egypt in the consolation final, landed in Seville on Sunday and immediately rejoined the squad.

‘They will be with us tomorrow (tonight),’ Almeyda told reporters on Sunday. ‘Both have been committed to returning as soon as possible and being with the group. We were waiting for their arrival.

‘They are two of the offensive players we have. I think it will be difficult for them to start, they travel today and we will have to see how they are. But I do know that I will count on them during the match. At the very least, I know that I have two more players.’

Sevilla’s attacking struggles have been evident in recent weeks, with the team failing to score despite creating chances.

Almeyda acknowledged the issue, stressing that the return of Adams and Ejuke could provide the spark his side has been missing.

‘We have not been able to score in a few games, although we had chances,’ he said. ‘We don’t stop at giving peace of mind, we look for a way to score. Clearly we are worried, but this is achieved with work.’
