Awo-Winner Lifts Forest Out Of Relegation Zone, Closes In On Haaland’s Premier League Record!

Taiwo Awoniyi made the difference for Nothingham Forest Wednesday night as his lone strike proved the winner to move his side 16th on the log, two points above relegation zone.

Interestingly, all four of Nottingham Forest’s Premier League wins so far this season have been 1-0, with Awoniyi netting the winner in three of those.

He netted the only goal on his home debut last August West Ham to give Forest their first win of the season. He was on song the following month in the 3-2 loss to Fulham at the City Ground, heading home the opening goal of the encounter to give Forest an 11th minute lead.

Awoniyi’s third goal for Forest was against Liverpool and it was the only goal of the game before Wednesday night’s goal at Saint Mary’s stadium.
It was the Nigerian’s first Premier League goal away from the City Ground.

Each of Awoniyi’s four goals has been the opening goal of the game and the Nigerian is just one opening goal behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (5) has scored the opening goal in more different Premier League games this season

Meanwhile, Awoniyi’s Nigerian compatriot at the club, Emmanuel Dennis was an unused substitute for the second consecutive game and for the fifth time in the 15 matches he has made the matchday squad list.
