Captain Chidi Hat-Trick Inspires Flamingos’ 5-0 Rout of Guinea

Nigeria’s U17 girls, the Flamingos, produced a commanding performance on Saturday, sweeping aside Guinea with a resounding 5-0 victory in the first leg of their 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifier at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.
Captain Harmony Chidi set the tone from the very first whistle, scoring with the opening kick of the game to hand Nigeria an immediate advantage.
She doubled the lead in the 13th minute with a stunning long-range strike, before Oluwakemi Adegbuyi extended the scoreline to 3-0 in the 37th minute.
Just three minutes later, Chidi completed her hat-trick with a composed finish, capping a remarkable first-half display.
The Flamingos maintained their dominance after the break, and their relentless attacking play was rewarded when Mary Dunstan added a fifth goal in the 56th minute to seal an emphatic win.
The result gives Nigeria a significant advantage heading into the return leg in Ikenne-Remo next Saturday, as they move a step closer to securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals in Morocco.
