Cote d’Ivoire coach Gasset: ‘We know Nigeria’s strengths’

The Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire have turned theri attention to their second group A game against Nigeria following their 2-0 defeat of Guinea-Bissau in the opening game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The host are top of the table after Nigeria could only draw 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea on Sunday but Jean-Louis Gasset, coach of Cote D’Ivoire knows the gaem against the Super Eagles won’t be a stroll in the park and has promised the Elephants will raise their game for the encounter.

“We know Nigeria’s strengths – their attacking line-up is impressive and their striker is the best in Africa,” he said.

Gasset was referring to Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen, recently crowned African Player of the Year after plundering goals in Serie A.

“We will have to improve but having got the opening match pressure off, I’m sure my players will step up,” Gasset added.
