Eagles Euro Watch: Iwobi eyes historic 300th EPL appearance, Onuachu eager to extend lead as Super Lig top scorer in Turkey

Alex Iwobi is set to make history this weekend as he prepares for his 300th Premier League appearance when Fulham take on Newcastle United.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who made his debut in October 2015 for Arsenal, has already become the most capped Nigerian in Premier League history, surpassing the previous record with his 299th outing in Fulham’s narrow 1-0 loss to Arsenal.
Iwobi’s journey across England’s top flight spans three clubs: 100 appearances for Arsenal (11 goals), 123 for Everton (6 goals), and 76 for Fulham (15 goals). He’s the only Nigerian to have played over 20,000 minutes in the Premier League and will now be the first to reach the 300-game milestone.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Fulham defender Calvin Bassey is hoping to return to the starting lineup after being benched in the loss to Arsenal.
The 25-year-old is set for his 73rd Premier League appearance and fourth against Newcastle, a side he’s beaten twice.
Brentford’s Frank Onyeka is still chasing his first start of the season. The 27-year-old will be making his 75th Premier League appearance and hopes to earn his third start against Liverpool, a team he’s yet to beat in seven attempts across all competitions.
In Italy, Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is aiming for his first clean sheet of the season at the Bluenergy Stadium against Lecce. The 26-year-old, recently cleared after a two-month betting ban, has previously kept two clean sheets against the same opponent and will be eager to continue his strong form that helped Udinese avoid relegation last season.
At the Giovanni Zini Stadium, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman is targeting his first Serie A goal of the season against Cremonese. The 28-year-old has provided one assist in two previous meetings and is chasing his 40th Serie A goal in 97 games for the club.
In Turkey, Paul Onuachu continues to dominate the Super Lig scoring charts. The towering 31-year-old striker has netted seven times in nine matches for Trabzonspor, leading the division’s top scorers.
He will be keen to add to the seven when his side, Trabzonspor hosts Eyupspor at Papara Park.
Meanwhile, last season’s top scorer Victor Osimhen has managed just two goals in six appearances so far.
