Flying Eagles Star Daniel Daga to Appeal Six-Month Prison Sentence in Norway

Molde FK midfielder Daniel Daga will appeal the six-month prison sentence handed down by a Norwegian court for committing a sexual act without consent. The verdict, delivered Tuesday afternoon, also ordered the 19-year-old Nigerian to pay 10,000 kroner in legal costs.
Daga’s lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, confirmed the appeal and stressed that her client maintains his innocence.
‘He is devastated by the outcome. He believes everything happened with consent. The judgment is not final, and he will be treated like anyone else until the appeal is decided,’ Bolstad told TV 2.
Molde FK responded with a statement acknowledging the seriousness of the case and announcing that Daga will not be included in matchday squads while the legal process continues.
‘This is a very demanding case for all involved. As an employer, Molde FK has a responsibility to safeguard our staff in a proper way, while also respecting the gravity of the matter and the strain it places on all parties.
‘Based on the situation and the ongoing legal process, the club has decided that the player will not be part of the squad until further notice,’ the club said.
Daga joined Molde ahead of the 2025 season, making 15 appearances and scoring three goals. He also represented Nigeria at the U-20 World Cup last summer.
