Onuachu becomes third Super Eagles striker to exit Premier League without a goal

Former KRC Genk free-scoring forward, Paul Onuachu ended his sojourn to the Premier League without scoring a goal.

The 28 year old joined Southampton during the winter transfer window after scoring 16 goals in 19 league games for his Belgian side in the first half of the
just ended season.

The gangling forward however failed to either score or bag any assist in the 11 games he featured in the competition thereby becoming the second Nigerian
forward after Emmanuel Emenike without a goal involvement.

He also becomes the third Super Eagle after Emenike and Julius Aghahowa to fire blanks before exiting the comptition.

Emenike played 13 times in the competition while on loan at West Ham United in the 2015/2016 season, starting just five of the games.

Aghahowa also failed to score in 20 games across two seasons for Wigan Athletic in the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons. He however bagged an assist in his second season at the club.

Meanwhile, Onuachu was not listed for acion in Southampton’s 4-4 draw with Liverpool on final day of the season thereby marking the third time he will be left out of the matchday squad.

He has started just four of the 11 games he featured in for the now relegated club.
