Osimhen warns Eagles rivals: ‘We haven’t played the best of our football yet’

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen has warned teams who are still in contention with Nigeria for the AFCON 2023 title they should be prepared to play a much more improved Eagles than the one that defeated Cameroon in a round of 16 clash last weekend.

Osimhen was the Eagles’ tormentor-in-chief as he ceaselessly harassed and intimidated the Indomitable Lions and provided the assist for the first goal after using sheer physical power to win the ball from a Cameroonian defender.

The Napoli forward says fans should expect more from the Super Eagles.

“I can’t lie, we haven’t played the best of our football yet,” the 25-year-old Napoli striker told the media.

“I think the whole team has this mentality of winning, we want to win [but], for me, we are more like a family than just players. It is important to have this mentality of winning,’ said Osimhen during a media parley in Abidjan ahead of Friday’s clash with the Palancas Negras of Angola.

Osimhen has so far scored a goal and provided an assist as the Super Eagles aim to win their fourth AFCON title after wins in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
