Over $4,000 raised as Chidi Okezie seeks support to have his family at Paris 2024 Olympics

Reigning African Games 400m champion, Chidi Okezie has raised over $4,000 via the crowd funding platform, GoFundMe to enable him to have his family, his wife and his daughter, watch him run at the greatest sporting stage on earth, the Olympics.

Okezie will be making his debut at the Games three years after having his dream dashed through the ineptitude of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN.

The 30-year-old is already in Paris for the Olympics with the Team Nigeria contingent but wants his young family to be at the stadium to cheer him on as he fulfils a lifelong ambition.

To achieve this, he and his family launched a GoFundMe appeal for help.

Dear Friends and Family,

‘We are excited to share that our beloved Chidi Okezie has qualified to represent Team Nigeria in the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This is an incredible achievement that is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and athleticism.

‘Chidi has earned a place on both the mixed 4×400 relay and the men’s 4×400 relay teams. This is a remarkable opportunity for him to showcase his talents on the world’s largest stage.

‘While Chidi has tirelessly trained and achieved his goal of qualifying, there is one thing that could make this experience even more special: having his family there to support and cheer him on.

‘His girlfriend, Maya, and their daughter, Ava, would cherish the opportunity to witness this momentous occasion in person.

‘To make this part of Chidi’s dream a reality, we are kindly asking for your support through a GoFundMe campaign. Your donation will go towards covering the expenses of flights and accommodations.

‘Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in bringing Chidi’s family to Paris. Your generosity will not only enable them to witness his incredible journey but also create memories that will last a lifetime.

‘Please consider donating in support of Chidi, Maya, and Ava. Together, we can make this Olympic dream come true. Thank you for your unwavering support and belief in Chidi. We are eternally grateful for your love and generosity.

Best regards,
The Moore Okezie Family.
