Spain coach. Luis de la Fuente says he is happy to be in charge of 26 geniuses who are fighting to become European champions after beating France 2-1 to qualify for Sunday’s Euro 2024 final.
Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo gave the La Roja the comeback win after Kolo Muani had given France a ninth lead.
Spain have been successful in five of their six EURO semi-finals, their only exit at this stage being their penalty shoot-out defeat against Italy at EURO 2020.
They have become the first team to win six straight matches at a EURO final tournament without requiring a penalty shoot-out.
Spain have also won each of their last eight matches in all competitions, recording their best winning streak since June 2010 under Vicente del Bosque (12).
A delighted La Fuente told UEFA website he is coaching a group of very committed players.
‘I have to keep my faith in this group of players. They always work for the common good. They’re very generous with their work rate. It’s just another sign that this is an insatiable team. I’m grateful for being able to lead 26 geniuses on the pitch,’ he said.
Spain will play the winner of Wednesday’s second semifinal between England and Turkey in Berlin on Sunday.
