World and Olympic 400m champion, Shaunae Miller-Uibo is pregnant

Bahamian Shaunae Miller-Uibo, the two-time reigning Olympic 400m champion, has announced she is pregnant with her first child.
“New Year, New Blessing,” she posted on social media with husband Maicel Uibo, the 2019 World Championships silver medalist in the decathlon for Estonia.
The 28 year old will thus not be participating in her sixth World Championships this August in Budapest, Hungary and will not be defending her 400m crown whuch she won in Eugene, Oregon, USA last July.
The 2010 World U20 and 2011 World U18 Champions should however be back for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France where she will be bidding to defend the 400m crown she won for the second time at the delayed Tokyo Olympics last year.
Miller-Uibo will take inspiration from women who came from procreation to become World and Olympic champions. The list includes American Wilma Rudolph, who swept the 100m, 200m and 4x100m at the 1960 Rome Olympics two years after having daughter Yolanda.
Also Dutchwoman Fanny Blankers-Koen, the first woman in history to win four gold medals at the Olympics also achieved some of her phenomenal feats after becoming a mother.
In Nigeria, Falilat Ogunkoya achieved her greatest feat in track and field after giving birth to Junior in 1994. She made history as the first Nigerian to win an individual medal at the Olympics (in 1996), the first and so far only one to win two medals at the same Olympics and the first to set two African records.
Fali, as she fondly called on the track also became the number one ranked 400m runner in the World in 1998 and ran in four consecutive 400m finals at the World Athletics Championships.
