2022/23 Ligue 1 Top Scorer Race: Terem Moffi closes in on Kylian Mbappe

Terem Moffi was on target as Lorient fell to a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Olympic Marseille at the Stade Orange Velodrome on Saturday night.

Moffi put Lorient ahead in the 29th minute of the encounter.

The 23-year-old has now scored 12 goals and recorded one assist in 18 league appearances for Les Merlus this season.

The goal has put him one above Brazil’s Neymar who has scored 11 times 16 appearances for PSG so far this season and one behind another PSG player, Kylain Mbappe who has netted 13 times also in 16 games.

Both Neymar and Mbappe have the chance to score Sunday when they lead PSG to the Roazhon Park to play their host, Rennes in a Ligue 1 matchweek 19 fixture.

Moffi is one of three Nigerians in some of the big Leagues in Europe in the race for the top scorer award in their respective league.

Victor Osimhen is the top scorer in the Serie A in Italy with 12 goals from 14 games, four more than Marko Arnautovic while Paul Onuachu is the top scorer in Belgian with 14 goals in 16 matches.
