2025 NWFL Season Wraps Up with Nationwide League Triumph
Four Teams Earn Promotion to Championship Tier
The curtain has officially fallen on the 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season, with the Nationwide League delivering a thrilling finale and four standout teams earning promotion to the NWFL Championship for the 2026 campaign.
Dreamstar Ladies of Lagos marked a triumphant return to the second tier, topping Group A with poise and purpose. Joining them from the same group were Rangers Women of Enugu, who made history by securing promotion in their debut season, a remarkable feat for the newcomers.
In Group B, Solo Wonders FC of Akwa Ibom emerged as champions after a dominant run, while Rosaria Victrix of Imo State clinched the runners-up spot, both teams celebrating promotion in their maiden appearances in the Nationwide League.
Together, Dreamstar Ladies, Rangers Women, Solo Wonders, and Rosaria Victrix now stand as rising forces in Nigerian women’s football, having earned their places in the 2026 NWFL Championship through grit, talent, and consistency.
Reflecting on the conclusion of the 2025 season, which spanned the NWFL Premiership, Championship, and Nationwide, Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, Modupe Shabi, expressed pride in the league’s smooth execution and the inspiring stories that unfolded across all tiers.
‘This 2025 season has been a remarkable journey for the NWFL. From the Premiership through the Championship to the Nationwide, we have witnessed great football, renewed competitiveness, and remarkable stories of resilience and growth across the country,’ Shabi stated.
She extended heartfelt appreciation to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, for its steadfast support and strategic leadership in strengthening the women’s league system.
Shabi also revealed that preparations are already underway for an early kickoff to the 2025/2026 season, promising fresh innovations and a more competitive structure designed to build on the momentum of this year’s success.
‘We owe immense gratitude to the NFF President and his board for their backing and vision, which continue to inspire the growth of the women’s game. Our appreciation also goes to the various hosts, clubs, administrators, state FAs, match officials, and the media, every stakeholder who contributed to the success of this season,’ she added.
