2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup: Falconets Open Abuja Camp for Malawi Showdown
Nigeria’s U20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, have officially resumed camp in Abuja as preparations intensify for the final round of qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
Players and officials began reporting to camp on Monday, 6 April 2026, with training sessions kicking off the following day.
The team has since embarked on intensive drills focused on fitness, tactical discipline, and cohesion, while the technical crew awaits the arrival of the remaining invited players.
Head Coach Moses Aduku addressed the squad during the opening session, urging them to remain focused and committed.
He emphasized discipline, teamwork, and determination as key ingredients for success against a determined Malawian side. The players have expressed optimism and readiness, with the coaching staff working to ensure peak condition before the qualifiers.
Malawi advanced to the final qualifying round after edging past Guinea Bissau in their previous fixture. The Falconets will host the first leg in Nigeria on Saturday, 2 May, before traveling for the return leg in Malawi a week later.
Africa will produce four representatives at the World Cup, scheduled for 5–26 September 2026 in Poland. The Falconets, traditionally one of the continent’s strongest sides, are aiming to secure their place among the elite teams heading to the global stage.
