Sinan Engin: Galatasaray Ordinary Without Osimhen

Former Besiktas star Sinan Engin has launched a scathing assessment of Galatasaray’s attacking options following their 2-1 defeat to Trabzonspor, insisting the Istanbul giants look ordinary without injured Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.

The Yellow and Reds fell at Papara Park on Saturday, with Trabzonspor’s Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu delivering a standout performance and scoring alongside compatriot Chibuike Nwaiwu.

Wilfried Singo netted Galatasaray’s only goal, but the absence of Osimhen was keenly felt as Mauro Icardi struggled to make an impact.

Speaking on the Asist Analiz YouTube channel, Engin dismissed excuses about lack of service for Icardi and questioned the Argentine’s influence in high-stakes matches.

‘With Icardi, things won’t work out. Galatasaray fans need to wake up. I’m a fan of Icardi too, but there’s this joke about ‘the ball isn’t reaching me’ in a top-level match,’ he said. ‘They need defenders who will fight and struggle a bit.’

Engin contrasted Icardi’s display with Onuachu’s effectiveness, highlighting the Nigerian’s ability to deliver under pressure.

He further stressed Osimhen’s importance to Galatasaray’s title hopes, suggesting the squad should show their appreciation if they clinch the championship.

‘How does Onuachu do it? If Galatasaray wins the championship at the end of the season, the team should get together and give Osimhen a huge gift. Galatasaray without Osimhen is just a normal team,’ he added.
