AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: 15 Eagles now in camp for Guinea-Bissau

Ahmed Musa, Osayi-Samuel latest Eagles to hit Abuja

Fenerbahce defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Sivasspor forward, Ahmed Musa are the latest players to arrive the Super Eagles camp in Abuja as preparations start for the 2023 (2024) Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header against Guinea-Bissau.

The duo came after the players who arrived Sunday night and Monday morning had their first training session at the mainbowl of the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja.

Musa has started just four of his club’s Turkish Super Lig game in 16 appearances and has played cameo roles in his last three games. The 30 year old is yet to score in 21 matches for the club across all competitions this season.

Osayi-Samuel on his part seven and was subbed on in the 17 games he has featured in the league for Fenerbache.

Meanwhile 13 players took part in the Eagles first training Monday evening under the supervision of head coach, Jose Peseiro.

Those who trained included Kenneth Omeruo, Francis Uzoho, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon , Aniagboso, Semi Ajayi, Kevin Akpugoma, Joe Aribo, Frank Onyeka, Bamaiyi, and Paul Onuachu.
Wilfried Ndidi sat out the training as the team emphasized on ball work and shooting practice.

Eight more players including Napoli hitman, Victor Osimhen and Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze are expected to arrive later Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Osimhen and Chukwueze were both on target on Sunday for their respective club. While the former scored two headed goals in Napoli’s 4-0 drubbing of Ola Aina’s Torino in a Serie A games, the latter scored once to lead his LaLiga side to a 3-0 win at Osasuna.

It was Chukwueze’s first goal in eight games against Osasuna.
