Mikel Obi hopes Lampard can stop the rot at Chelsea

Former Chelsea player Mikel Obi believes caretaker manager, Frank Lampard can make the difference and get Chelsea back to winning ways after the 44 year old was named to replace Graham Potters who was sacked last Sunday.

Mikel told Dubai Eye 103.8 Sport Chelsea blood runs in Lampard’s veins and could be the man to start the club’s revival.

‘With Frank Lampard coming back, he knows the club. Let’s hope we will start playing well and get some good results.’

Lampard won three Premier League ttiles, was named player of the season once and won four player of the month award as a player will be in charge of the west London side till the end of the season.

Meanwhile Mikel, who featured in 371 games for Chelsea across all competitions believes the club’s new owners led Chelsea to this abysmal level, placing 11th with 10 matches left to conclude the league.

‘I don’t think anyone can make sense of what is going on,’ Mikel told the radio station.

‘Players are coming in through the door. I read articles that Todd Boehly is looking at Arsenal’s radar and whoever Arsenal is going for.

‘Some players when you look at them, they’re not Chelsea players. Some of them are not good on the ball. When you look at the way the team was playing before
Graham Potter got sacked, nothing was happening. There was no spark.

‘Nothing was going on. When you watch the games, you think where are the goals going to come from? Where is the magic going to come from?
