Gunners seeking to end a 10-year wait for victory at Anfield

Arsenal will be aiming to clinch an eighth-straight Premier League win when they visit Merseyside to take on Liverpool on Sunday, as well as end a 10-year wait for a victory at Anfield in the process.

The Gunners’ last win at Anfield came in September 2012 when Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla found the target, but Mikel Arteta’s men now have an opportunity to complete their first league double over Liverpool since 2009/10.

While Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have been winless in four games since the 7-0 demolition of Manchester United, their record at Anfield is a different story.

They have won five of their last six league home games and haven’t conceded on their own patch in the league since December.

Liverpool are on a six-match winning Premier League run versus Arsenal, scoring 3+ goals on every occasion.

Mohamed Salah may have lost some of his sparks but the Egyptian has scored or assisted seven goals in five matches versus Arsenal at Anfield.

For the Gunners, ‘new boy’, Leandro Trossard can be the game changer. The Belgian scored a hat-trick for Brighton the last time he visited Anfield and can become the first player in Premier League history to score away to Liverpool for two different clubs in the same season.

History-seeking Aaron Ramsdale can also play a huge role in Sunday’s game. The Arsenal goalie has kept nine clean sheets away from home in the Premier League this season.

Only two keepers have recorded 10+ shutouts on the road in a single campaign – Petr Cech (11 in 2004/05, 10 in 2008/09) and Ederson (11 in 2018/19, 10 in 2021/22).
