Ndidi may end 2022/23 season as dirtiest Nigerian player in the Premier League

With just eight games left to play in the 2022/23 Premier League season, Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi may end the season as the Super Eagles who committed the most fouls.

The 26 year old is having an indifferent season so far albeit he has started 15 of the 21 games he has played in the Premier League so far.

His 28 fouls committed is 12 more than the 12 committed by Everton midfielder, Alex Iwobi and 15 more than that of Nothingham Forest’s Emmanuel Dennis who has been a shadow of his debut season in the competition.

Ndidi has not only committed the most fouls, he has also been penalised more than other Nigerian in the Premier League so far this season.

The former KRC Genk of Belgium player has received four yellow cards, one more than Dennis and two more than Iwobi and Joe Aribo of Southampton.

The Leicester City player has drawn level with Celestine Babayaro as the second dirtiest Nigerian player in the history of the Premier League.

Ndidi’s yellow card in the Foxes’ 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in his club’s first game just after the international break drew him level on 34 yellow cards with Babayaro who featured in 179 Premier League games for Chelsea and Newcastle.

Babayaro scored five goals from his left fullback position and bagged 13 assists. He helped his two clubs keep 54 cleansheets and made 31 tackles and 13 interceptions.
