Lampard sets unwanted record as Chelsea manager

Frank Lampard has become the first ever manager in the Chelsea ’s 118-year history not to win any of his first four games in charge of the club in the Premier League era after leading the Blues out of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Sacked by Everton in January after a winless run that saw them drop to 19th in the Premier League, Chelsea re-hired its former player and manager after Graham Potter was sacked last month.

Since he assumed his role as the interim boss for the west London side, Lampard has lost all the four games he has been in charge of, losing to Wolves and Brighton in the Premier League and to Real Madrid in the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League.

His team has scored just once and conceded seven goals.

Meanwhile, Lampard declared that he is still hungry for a strong end to the season.

He said: ‘You’re playing for Chelsea. Every game you play, you have to give everything.

‘I’ve only been back here for two weeks, so I am hungry.

‘I won’t let anyone off the hook in terms of seeing this season out. It has to be the opposite.

‘The standard (from today) that cannot drop.’
