Okowa replaces Gusau as CAA Vice President

Tonobok Okowa, President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, has been elected as one of the five vice presidents of the Confederation of African Athletics at its congress Thursday in Lusaka, Zambia.
Okowa is replacing Shehu Ibrahim Gusau, the man he replaced as President of the AFN in June 2021.
Gusau had hoped to replace Malboum Kalkaba as President of the continental body but he was not cleared to contest the election by the Athletics Integrity Unit, AIU.
Okowa, who in February this year also replaced Gusau as President of West Africa Region 11 will now serve as CAA vice president for a first term period of four years.
