Osimhen is 40th most valuable player in the world, first in Africa

Victor Osimhen is the 40th most valuable player in the world, according to CIES Football Observatory.

In its latest update on Tuesday, the Nigerian is valued at €77.3m to rank the 40th most expensive player in the world and number one in Africa.

The 24 year old is not however the most valuable player in the Serie A. He is even not in the top three despite emerging the division’s top scorer and
helping Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.

AC Milan’s Portugal forward, Rafael Leão is the most valuable player in the Serie A (€113.2m), followed by Inter Milan’s Argentina forward, Lautaro Martínez
(€100.7m) and the Nigerian’s teammate at Napoli, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (87.6m) who was voted player of the just ended season.

Another Inter Milan player, Nicolò Barella (€82.8m) is ranked fourth most valuable ahead of Osimhen in fifth.

Man City goal machine, Erling Haaland is predictably the most valuable player in the world (€245.1m), followed by Brazilian Vinicus Junior of Real Madrid
(€196.3m) while ‘Nigerian’, Bukayo Saka is ranked the third most valuable player in the world (€195.8m).

Meanwhile, with the Serie A having reached the end, Napoli are now set to hold significant talks with the entourage of Osimhen regarding the striker’s future
at the club.

Sky Sport, via TMW, reports that club-owner Aurelio De Laurentiis will meet with the 24 year-old’s agent Roberto Calenda next week in order to determine
whether the Nigerian international will remain with the Partenopei beyond this year’s campaign.

As it stands, De Laurentiis has no intentions of selling Osimhen within the summer window, unless an irresistible offer around the region of €120m is
submitted for the world-class finisher.
