Nnadozie is ‘one of the best young goalkeepers in the world right now’
Says Super Falcons coach, Waldrum
Super Falcons’ head coach, Randy Waldrum has hailed his goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie as one of the best young goalkeepers in the world right now.
Nigeria and Canada shared the spoils in their tight Group B opener in Melbourne, with Nnadozie’s 50th minute save denying Christine Sinclair a place in
history in the scoreless draw.
Four of the last six penalties awarded at the FIFA Women’s World Cup have been missed, with Sinclair’s effort the latest on that list.
Waldrum says the save on Friday morning was not Nnadozie’s first.
‘Chiamaka has done this before and I will say this and I will embarrass her in front of you all, but I think she’s one of the best young goalkeepers in the
world right now,’ said Waldrum after the game.
Nnadozie made 15 saves in the game and will be pivotal to Nigeria’s success in the tournament.
Nigeria and Canada have met five times with three draws and one win a piece.
The Super Falcons will play co-host Australia in their second group game on Thursday at the Brisbane Stadium in Brisbane.
