Olorunleke Ojo named Enyimba football club captain as club releases 11 players

Goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo has been named captain of Enyimba Football Club ahead of the 2023/24 season following the departure of former captain John Noble.

Noble left the club following the expiration of his contract.

Ojo joined the People’s in September 2021 and, in his two seasons at the club, has established himself as a mainstay in Finidi George’s squad despite stiff competition from John Noble and Djeri Bassa.

Centre back Somiari Alalibo will serve as the team’s second captain.

Enyimba will get the 2023/24 season underway with a Champions League preliminary round fixture against Al Ahli Benghazi in Libya on August 18.

Meanwhile, Enyimba have confrimed the release of 11 players after the 2022/23 football season.

Emeka Obioma, Philip Ozor, Chigozie Obasi, Adekunle Adeleke, Fatai Abdullahi, Samuel Kalu, and Sadiq Abubakar followed Noble out of the club following the expiration of their contracts.

Three players – Moses Omoduemuke, Ademola Adebambo and Othuke Egbo – have been released on mutual consent.
