African Rankings: Enekwechi’s only top ranked Nigerian in individual events!

Reigning African Shot Put champion, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi is the only Nigerian man to ranked top in any of the athletics disciplines following the update on the weekly world and individual events’ rankings by World Athletics.

Chukwuebuka is ranked the number one shot putter in Africa with little known Emeka Ugwu the next Nigerian in the rankings (15th).

In the 100m event, only two Nigerians, Ushoritse Itshekiri (8th) and Godson Oghenebrume (9th) ranked in the top 10 while in the 200m, the duo of Udodi Onwuzurike (5th) and Alaba Akintola (10th) feature in the top 10.

In the 400m, Dubem Nwachukwu (10th) is the only bonafide Nigerian in the top 10 albeit Bamidele Emmanuel who is ranked sixth has not re-pledged his allegiance to his fatherland.

Ezekiel Nathaniel is ranked fourth and Rilwan Alowonle (16th) are the only two Nigerians in the top 20 in Africa while Omamuyovwi Erhire (9th), Charles Edward Godfred (9th), Joel Iheakolam (9th), Chinecherem Nnamdi (5th) and Stephen Eloji (8th) are ranked in the top 10 in the high jump, long jump, triple jump, Javelin throw and 110m hurdles respectively.
