Iheanacho looking to score first Foxes goal in two months and third on Boxing Day

Kelechi Iheanacho will be looking to score his first since goal for Leicester City since late Octoberwhen he travels to Ipswich Town for a Sky Bet Championship matchweek 24 tie.

The Super Eagle will also be aiming for his third Boxing Day goal in five matches.

The 27 year old has become surplus to requirement at the King Power stadium outfit as he has not featured in the club’s last four games in the competition
albiet he missed two of the matches through illness.

Iheanacho will thus be eager to first return to reckoning and, at least, get some minutes at Portman Road against Ipswich Town where the only focus will now
be to score his sixth goal in 19 Championship games for the Foxes.

If he scores, it won’t just be his first in over two months or his 62nd in 227 games for the Foxes but also his third goal and fourth goal involvement on
Boxing Day since he moved to England in 2015.

Iheanacho scored on his first Boxing Day game but in the colours of his former club, Manchester City, netting the second goal in the Cityzens’ 3-0 defeat of
Hull City at the Hull City MKM Stadium stadium. That was in December 2016.

The Nigerian was on target again on December 28, 2021, scoring once and provided two assists this time for Leicester City in the Foxes’ 6-3 loss at the
Etihad against his former club, Manchester City.

He featured for just 19 minutes in the following Boxing Day match, the 3-0 loss to Newcastle United at the King Power stadium.

Meanwhile, midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi will play his 260th game for the Foxes if he features Monday evening at Portman Road.
The 26 year old joined Leicester City in January 2017 and has been one of the best signings ever for the Foxes, winning the Premier League best tackler of
the season twice.

Ndidi has scored 15 times and provided 18 assists in the 259 games he has so far played for the Foxes. This term, and playing in an offensive position, Ndidi
has set personal season’s scoring and assists records.

His four goals in just 22 games so far are the most he has scored in a single season in England and his six assists are also the most in a single season, so
far.
