Godfred Emmanuel leaps to a wind-aided 8.19m in Texas to place second

Jumps wind-legal 8.14m in round four at the event

Reigning African U20 long jump champion, Emmanuel Godfred has continued to prove he is one to watch out for after leaping to a wind-aided 8.19m (+2.6m/s) at the 44 Farms Team Invitational held at the Bryan College station in Texas.

The 19 year old came into national consciousness when he jumped 7.86m to win the African U20 long jump title in Ndola, Zambia in 2023.

The University of Minnesota freshman first improved his personal best from 7.86m in 2023 to 7.91m last month before leaping to a wind-legal 8.14m in round four of the meet in Texas. He is now eighth in the Nigerian all-time list of 8m jumpers.
