Finidi picks Amokachi, James Baruwa as assistants, Ozturk as analyst and Onyeike as fitness trainer

New Super Eagles coach, Finidi George has picked former Nigeria internationals, Daniel Amokachi and Benjamin James as his assistants. He also picked Abiodun Baruwa as his goalkeepers trainer, Chima Onyeike as fitness trainer and Mehmet Ozturk as Analyst.
Finidi, 53, was unveiled on Monday as the 41st coach of the Super Eagles. He featured in 45 games for Nigeria as a winger and scored eight goals.
His first assistant, Amokachi, 51, also played for Nigeria and scored 14 times in 42 appearances. James, 53, the second assistant also played for Nigeria 11 times and is currently working as assistant manager of the Youth Team of German Bundesliga side, Hoffenheim.
Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, President, Ibrahim Gusau revealed that the Federation gave George the free hand to pick his assistants.
Gusau exuded delight with the ‘new chapter’ the Federation is opening about the Nigeria game, saying the football-governing body is determined to fully support George and his assistants to lead the Super Eagles to new heights.
‘When we returned from the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, we began the search for a new Head Coach. There was a plethora of foreign applicants, far more than the indigenous applicants.
However, we undertook a thorough process that has produced an indigenous Coach and we are very happy about that.
Finidi George was part of the technical crew that came close to winning the AFCON, and we have faith in him that he will lead the team to the title next time.
‘Our objective now is to ensure the enthronement of excellence at all levels of the National Teams.’
