Ndidi says Super Eagles condemned to win 2006 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic

Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi says the Super Eagles are condemned to win the two FIFA World Cup qualifying games against South Africa and Benin Republic next month.

The Super Eagles have picked up just two points from their opening two games in their World Cup group and are third behind Rwanda (four points) and South Africa (three points).

This means Finidi George and his men will have to win their next two games and hope Rwanda falters so that they can have their destiny in their hands in the group.

‘Yeah they (the games) are really important because we know where we stand at the moment. It’s not a good position, to be honest, we should be honest with ourselves,’ Ndidi told Arise TV.

‘Where we are at the moment gives us more pressure, because these games are must-win games. I’m not saying we will win the game but I’m saying they are must-win games because we don’t know what’s going to happen but it all bores down to us as a team because we know what is at hand and then we know we have to get as much as we can in these two games just to go up there.’

The Super Eagles, under Jose Peseiro at the time, drew 1-1 with Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo November 16, 2023 with Semi Ajayi rescuing the team with his 67th minute equalizer.

The Nigerians also forced Zimbabwe to another 1-1 draw, this time away from home, precisely at the Stade Huye in Butare, Rwanda with Iheanacho also scoring on 67 minutes to rescue a point.
