Stockholm Diamond League: Gina Bass finally beats Ta Lou-Smith over the 100m on 11th attempt

Reigning African Games double sprint champion, Gina Bass finally recorded her first win over Marie Jose Ta Lou-Smith in 11 appearances after the Gambian
made a tactical dip across the line to claim the win in the women’s 100m in 11.15 seconds at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting in Stockholm, Sweden.

The pair first met at the Bamako CAA Grand Prix Meeting in April 2014 where the Ivorian ran 11.42 to win with Bass fifth (12.14).

Ta Lou-Smith also won when both stars met in the final of the 100m event at the African Games in 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. The African record holder ran 11.09 on the day to edge Bass (11.13) to the title.
