Olatoye, Onyekwere to compete at USTAF New York City Grand Prix

The Nigerian throwing duo of Sade Olatoye and Chioma Onyekwere will be in action Saturday, the opening day of the two-day 2024 USTAF New York City Grand Prix holding at the Icahn Stadium in New York City.
Olatoye who set a new lifetime best of 71.88m in the hammer throw will be aiming to throw farther in the event and probably hit the 74m entry standard for the Paris Olympics while Onyekwere, with a 61.17m personal season’s best in the Discus throw will be keen to hit the 64.50m mark to seal her direct passage to paris.
Olatoye will battle former Nigeria star and reigning African record holder, Annette Echikunwoke among four others for the top position and top prize money on offer.
For Onyekwere, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, her compatriot, Obiageri Amaechi will be one of competitors for the top prize.
Interestingly, Amaechi (63.17m) is closer to hitting the Olympic entry standard.
