Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen may start the pre-season with Napoli next week if there are no concrete offers for his services.
The Nigerian has been linked with a move away from the Partenopei this summer after helping the club to its first Scudetto in 33 years last season but the €130m release clause in the contract renewal he signed with the club last season is deemed to high for the player who could not fire Napoli to Europe at the end of the 2023/24 season.
There are still no official bids for the 25 year old albeit Premier League giants, Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal as well as Ligue 1 side, PSG are believed to be interested.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, ‘Arsenal prefer Viktor Gyökeres to Osimhen even if they also consider the Sporting striker’s €100m clause too high. However, Gyökeres has a lower salary than Osimhen, so the Gunners are focused on him currently.
Chelsea, according to the Italy’s sports news outlet, ‘have changed their transfer targets after the appointment of the Italian Enzo Maresca, while Manchester United have set their sights on Joshua Zirkzee and will continue relying on ex-Atalanta ace Rasmus Hojlund, especially after Erik ten Hag was confirmed in charge at Old Trafford.’
