Ogazi runs 45.17 to win, Onwuzurike returns with 20.52 in Luzern

Samuel Ogazi ran his fastest 400m time since he won the silver medal at the NCAA outdoor championships to win the 400m event at the 2024 Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern, a World Athletics Continental Tour – Silver meeting in Luzern, Switzerland.

The 18 year old had raised expectations with his 44.52 run last month in Oregon, USA but just managed to win a bronze medal at the 23rd African Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon also last month.

The Nigerian seems to be getting back to shape and has been running better since that misadventure to Douala.

Also in action at the meeting was Udodi Onwuzurike who returned to track and field action almost a month after his last performance at the Nigerian Championships in Benin, Edo state.

The 21 year old former World U20 champion ran 20.52 to place sixth in the final classification and behind the African quartet made up of the Zimbabwean duo of Charamba Makanakaishe (20.42)
Makarawu Tapiwanashe (20.48) as well as Uganda’s Orogot Tarsis (20.50) and Richardson Benjamin of South Africa (20.51).
