Femke Bol ready to battle Sydney for Olympic gold in Paris

Femke Bol ran a new 51.30 to set a new London Diamond League meeting record and declared her readiness to battle defending champion and world record holder, Sydney Mclaughlin-Levrone for the event’s gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Bol was third three years ago in Tokyo behind the American duo of Mclaughlin-Levrone and Dalilah Muhammad but the 24-year-old reigning World champion is confident she can go the distance this time around.

In her post race interview, courtesy of the Diamond League website, Bol expressed delight with her performance and excited over the impending showdown between her and Mclaughlin-Levrone in Paris.

‘I truly love to run here in this stadium, it is so special and to put on this great field it is fantastic. I am super happy with my performance today. I am working on my opening and getting to that first hurdle.

‘I am excited for Paris and of course put on my best race there and I am looking forward to racing Sydney that will push us both. I will be ready for it and the relay as well of course,’ said the Dutch woman.

Mclaughlin-Levrone raced to a new 50.65 world record at the USA Olympic trials last month and the whole world awaits a thrilling event in Paris after Bol raced into a 50.95 lifetime best in Switzerland last week to become the second woman in history to break 51 seconds in the event.
