La Roja defender, Aleixandri: ‘We are expecting a very physical match against Nigeria’

La Roja defender, Laia Aleixandri, says they are battle ready for a physical battle against the wounded Super Falcons of Nigeria when both teams clash in a group C game at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes, France on Sunday evening.
Spain won their opening group game 2-1 against Japan while Nigeria lost by a lone goal to Brazil.
While a win for Spain will certainy confirm their qualification to the knockout phase, a loss for Nigeria, which will be their 10th in 11 games at the Olympics, will most likely end their campaign.
Aleixandri knows she and her colleagues will be up against a very physical Super Falcons who impressed against Brazil despite losing 1-0.
‘Any game in the Olympics is a battle, but it’s true that with Nigeria we are expecting a very physical match. We are prepared,’ she told FIFA.com.
The Spaniards have won their previous five international matches against African teams, most recently a 5-0 group-stage win over Zambia at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
