Paris 2024 Olympics: Like Aruna, Omotayo, Edem, Olaore and Bello, Opeyori also lose at first hurdle

Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori has become the fifth Nigerian to crash out of an individual event at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics after losing 2-0 to Kuenzi Tobias of Switzerland in the Badminton men’s singles event at the La Chapelle Arena Court 1 in Paris.

Opeyori lost 22-20 and 21-14 to the Swiss to follow in the footsteps of all the Nigerian athletes that have taken part in individual events so far at the games.

Only D’Tigress, Nigeria’s senior basketball team has managed to win a game, so far, and looks good to go a step further by qualifying for the quarterfinals.

Attention will now shift to the track and field event which starts on Thursday for succor as Team Nigeria looks ill prepared for the Games.
