Wonder kid, Chido Obi Martin undergoes Man United medical tests
Transfer market expert and journalist, Fabrizio Romano former Arsenal wonder kid, Chido Obi Martin has undergone the first part of medical tests as new Manchester United player on Tuesday but his announcement as a Manchester United player could take time ‘as deal will be subject to PL 5 steps investigation but all set to be signed.’
According to wikipedia, Obi was born in Glostrup, a Copenhagen suburb, to Nigerian parents and started his career in Denmark with local side KB before moving to England as a child, going on to join the academy of Arsenal at the age of fourteen.
At Arsenal, he scored 21 goals in 32 games for the Arsenal U18 in the U81 Premier League including seven goals in the Gunners’ 9-0 defeat of Norwich U18 in April this year.
Wikipedia reports that Obi, still eligible to represent Denmark, England and Nigeria at international level made five appearances in late 2022 for Denmark’s under-16 side, before switching allegiance to England and represented them twice at under-16 level in February 2023.
In April 2023, he returned to the Danish under-16 team, scoring twice in three appearances and his prolific goal-scoring form earned him a call-up to the Danish under-17 side.
He started Denmark’s 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification campaign with two goals in his first three games.
Obi rejected the chance to sign a professional deal with Arsenal, the club that gave him a career. He also rejected Bayern and Dortmund for Man United.
