Usoro, Ochonogor out as Brume begins final push for a second Olympic long jump medal

Ruth Usoro and Prestina Ochonogor did not make the cut to be among the final eight that will contest for the three medals on offer in the women’s long jump final after the duo finished outside the final eight after the first three rounds of throw.

Usoro’s 6.58m first round jump and Ochonogor’s 6.24m scond and third round efforts ranked them 10th and 12th respectively while Ese Brume secured a top eight finish with her 6.63m third round throw.

The 28-year-old Brume has not started the fight for another medal in the fight and has improved to 6.70m although the American duo of Tara Davis-Woodhall (7.05m), Jasmine Moore (6.96m) and reigning champion, German, Malaika Mihambo (6.95m) are currently in the top three medal positions with the fourth round of jumps out of six underway.
