Iwobi to wear jersey No 17 as Fulham announce squad numbers

Alex Iwobi will wear jersey number 17 for Fulham when they start their new Premier League season on Friday at Old Trafford where they will face Manchester United.

Fulham confirmed their squad number for the 2024/2024 with the Nigerian one of the few players whose jersey number has changed from what he wore last season in his first season at the club.

Iwobi started the 2023/24 with 17 on his back while still with Everton, but had to take 22 when joining Fulham.

But with Leno moving down to 1, the winger has nabbed his preferred digits, a number he wore with Arsenal and one that also ties into his community initiative, Project 17.

Iwobi scored five Premier League goals last season, his most in a Premier League season wearing jersey number 22, two more than he scored wearing jersey number 17 at Arsenal in 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19 respectively.

The other Nigerian at the club, Calvin Bassey will wear jersey number three.

Emile Smith Rowe, Fulham’s new signing from Arsenal will wear jersey number 32 while another new player, Ryan Sessegnon will wear number 30.
