Iheanacho in Sevilla squad for opening game of 2024/25 LaLiga season, to wear jersey number 9
Kelechi Iheanacho is in line to make his debut in the LaLiga after joining last month as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Leicester City.
The Nigerian has played in England since the 2015/16 season and reportedly rejected a few Premier League sides including Aston Villa, Wolves and West Ham.
The 27 year old made his unofficial debut for Sevilla in their 4-1 drubbing by Liverpool last Sunday in their final pre-season game at Anfield and will be looking to make it official on Friday evening at the Estadio Gran Canaria when they face their host, UD Las Palmas.
Iheanacho is among the 26 players Sevilla coach, Xavier García Pimienta for the game.
Meanhwhile, the Nigerian has been assigned jersey number nine for his first season in the LaLiga after Sevilla FC announced the provisional numbers that will be worn by the players of the first team for the 2024-25 season.
Iheanacho’s Nigerian compatriot at the club, Chidera Ejuke will wear jersey number 21.
