Can Real Madrid win an unprecedented Septuple this season after UEFA Super Cup triumph?

Can Real Madrid make history as the first club side to win seven titles in a season? That was the question on football buffs’ lips after the Los Blancos defeated Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta 2-0 to win the European Super Cup in warsaw, Poland on Wednesday evening.

With the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup in June,2025, Los Merengues could potentially lift an unprecedented septuple (seven titles) this season.
Before now, the highest number of titles available for clubs to win are six and only two clubs, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, have ever managed to claim every available title in any given season.

Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona first achieved the feat back in 2009 winning LaLiga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup along with the Champions League, European Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Bayern Munich, with current Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick in charge, repeated the sweep in 2020.

Guardiola’s Manchester City was close in 2023, scooping five titles after losing the FA Community Shield to Arsenal.

Real Madrid are now in a position to set the bar very high with the addition of the new competition next June.

Carlo Ancelotti made history on Wednesday as the first coach in history to have won the UEFA Super Cup five times while Real Madrid also made history with their unprecedented record as the first side to win the UEFA Super Cup on six occasions.

Both Ancelotti could make history at the end of the season if they can add the new the new FIFA Intercontinental Trophy in December and the 2025 Spanish Super Cup in January.

Real Madrid can also add the Copa del Rey, LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League before going for the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in the United States between June and July next year.
