Bayer Leverkusen forward, Victor Boniface is under investigation for what has been described as an unsportsmanlike conduct during the DFL Super cup match against VfB Stuttgart last Saturday.

According to the DFB website, Boniface ‘is suspected of having shown the Stuttgart players the outstretched left middle finger immediately after the final whistle. When asked, referee Tobias Stieler explained that he had not seen this scene, which is why the control committee can investigate retrospectively.’

The committee has written to the Nigerian and asked him to make a statement as soon as possible.

After the statement has been received and evaluated, the Supervisory Committee will decide on the further course of the proceedings.
