No Bukayo Saka as 5 Gunners named in PFA Team of the Season
There was no space for Bukayo Saka, Arsenal’s top scorer with 16 goals and second most assists provided (9) after Martin Odegaard (10) in the 2023/24 Premier League season but five Gunners viz David Raya, William Saliba, Gabriel, Declan Rice and Odegaard have been selected by their peers for the 2023/24 PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
According to the Arsenal website, this is the second year in a row that Saliba and Odegaard have featured in the PFA side, with David, Gabriel and Declan all making their debuts.
‘Only the 2003/04 team, which included six Gunners following our Invincibles campaign, has had more Arsenal representation,’ revealed the website.
Arsenal enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 campaign in the Premier League and fought Manchester City all the way to the end in their unsuccessful bid for their first Premier League title in 20 years.
Man City, the Premier League champions had four players selected viz Erling Haaland, the competition’s top scorer, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker and Rodri.
Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk complete the list of the Premier League best X1 last season.
