Holloway to learn from defeat in Lausanne to win fourth world title in a row in Tokyo

Like Yemisi Ogunleye, Grant Holloway could not find the motivation to beat all comers like he did just under a week ago at the Paris Olympics as the American was beaten to the first position Thursday evening at the Lausanne Diamond League meeting.

Holloway, who finally won an Olympic title after dominating the 110m hurdles for so long, winning three world titles in the process, believes he has learnt a lesson from the loss and will turn them to his strength as he goes for his fourth title in a row at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan next year.

‘Coming off that high from the Olympics, it’s challenging to keep that same pace, but I’m focused on learning from this race to run better next time. Once you’ve reached your goals, it can be though to keep pushing, but I’m prepared to defend my world titles. As long as I’m improving, it’s a good sign,’ he said.

Holloway ran 13.14 to come second behind Jamaica’s Broadbell who won in 13.10 while another Jamaican, Parchment Hansle ran 13.23 to place third.
